The ‘Sol’ was out in Isla Mujeres, when we took the ferry from Cancun to the small island. Literally translated to ‘Womens Island’, it is about 30-45 minutes off the coast of Cancun, Mexico, depending on how cheap your ferry tickets are. This was Playa Norte, and we pretty much had it all to ourselves when we first arrived. The island is really gorgeous, although getting around is difficult and expensive. The north end of the island is all beaches and perfect pool-like lagoons, where you can snorkel with very clingy and stalker-y fish, while the south end has beautiful views of the Mexican Caribbean over rugged cliffs and sunbathing iguanas.
