Popayán holds Colombia’s biggest celebration of Easter Week (Semana Santa) with daily processions through the historical centre of the town during Holy Week. UNESCO has declared the famous Easter processions as a “Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Patrimony of Humanity”.
