Baby Monkey outside Swayambhunath, Kathmandu, Nepal

This week’s ‘photo of the week’ is of a cute little baby monkey, who was coincidentally sitting outside Kathmandu’s ‘Monkey Temple’ in Nepal.

The famous temple, more formally known as Swayambhunath Temple is situated high up on a mountain in Kathmandu, where loads of monkeys can be seen running around, playing, sleeping or grooming each other. I had never really gotten up so close to a monkey before so I was very excited as monkeys are one of my favourite animals. I was surprised at how calm they were, especially with all the people around. I think I fell in love with this little one though as I took this picture.

In my experience with monkeys, I swear they would put the cute baby in front of me to distract me, while the older brothers sneak up from behind and steal whatever they can get their little hands on.
